I lie, a luxuriatingly lazy,
lifeless form, in
front of the fireplace,
reading, resting,
rejuvenating,
letting the fire’s energy
refresh my energy’s flow,
fortifying me for
a fractious few days
of rigorous work.

Such fun with assonance, consonance and alliteration!

It was such fun to write. It also has touches of consonance (same consonant two or more times in short succession), and alliteration (repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words).
I had to look up “assonance”. Then I understood the rhyme and it took on more meaning. I say ‘more’ as I already understood the “fractious” nature of work.
